Combining Live Action With CG In Maya And Boujou
Mar 12th, 2009 by cm3

This tutorial is aimed at beginners of 3d or compositing packages who wish to integrate their CG scenes/character with real world video footages. I introduce the invisible art of camera tracking from the ground up here. So in this tutorial you also get a chance to learn the art of Matchmoving from an introductory level.
Combining computer generated (CG) characters with live-action footage can be a very rewarding experience. It has traditionaly been very difficult to make the digital character realistically seem to be a part of the real world. But now, the cat’s out of the bag, and i am going to show how. One of the challenges in making a CG character part of a real background is making the character move in exactly the same way the camera was moving in the real world. his is accomplished trough Matchmoving (camera tracking).
